About Us

The Ritzy Texan got its start at a family gathering, when Stan and Debbie Denison began discussing ideas for a side business with Jerry and Sandi Holt in 2014. They were looking for a business and therapy to overcome a terrible tragedy in their life. Ritzy Texan was made a reality on May 7, 2015. While they all had “day jobs” at the time (Stan worked for an independent consulting firm, Debbie and Jerry were in the high-tech industry, and Sandi worked in the medical insurance business), the decision was made to market unique, handmade products in the huge “First Monday Trade Days” at Canton. Their best-sellers were decorated “Memory Boxes” and insulated “bread bags” which could keep a loaf of bread fresh for more than four weeks, but their product line grew until they were filling ten booths at the four-day event every month. They also set up booths at many other community events, including Burnet’s Bluebonnet Festival and Christmas on the Square.

It wasn’t too long before they started thinking of opening a full-time store (the idea of living in an RV for four days every month had lost some of its appeal). In 2018, they began looking for a permanent location in Burnet.

After considering several possible locations, they decided to lease the former Family Dollar building (originally a grocery store) on Hwy 29 at Main Street. The four co-owners of the business power-washed and painted the building’s exterior in the spring of 2018, then papered over all the windows and began to refurbish the long-neglected interior of the building. Curiosity about the renovation created a great public interest in the new business, but they kept their business plans private.

On August 3, 2018, they announced “The Ritzy Texan,” a collection of unique home décor and gift items, plus original works of art by more than twenty five artist, craftsmen and artisans (including quite a few gifted locals). Just visiting the store is an inspirational adventure. There are many useful and fascinating items you will want to buy, art collector or not.

The Ritzy Texan features monthly “Meet the Artist” events featuring two to three of the gifted and talented showcasing their stories and their creations.

2019 brought more Artists, Artisans and Craftsmen to Ritzy Texan topping over 80 talented people with unique creations in multiple mediums including but not limited to canvas, metal, wood, fabric, glass and furniture.

Management

Jerry Holt - President

Jerry has over 9 years of development with Magento Community and Enterprise and over 18 years’ experience in project management. He also has over 14 years’ experience in network design, installation, support, maintenance, database management, workstation troubleshooting and repair, and peripheral management. Jerry brings years of experience in dynamic web site design/development.

Sandi Holt - Showroom Manager and Vice President

Sandi has extensive background in retail. Sandi has over 10 years of experience in front office management and retail operations. She also has over 25 years of experience in sewing and the textile industry.

Stan Denison - Chief Operating Officer

Stan has over twenty-five years in production and assembly environments. He has extensive experience in management of assembly and nationwide factory modernization and optimization. Stan is retired from Nabisco Brands, where he worked from his college days until he left in 1992 to pursue an independent consulting career. He has managed purchasing, shipping, and customer service for years for many operations. His passion is making ugly things have a new life as he demonstrated by turning the ugly Family Dollar store which was by far the ugliest building in Burnet, TX to the beautiful showroom gallery it is today.

Debbie Denison - Vice President Marketing

Debbie is customer Focused and passionate to meet their needs. With over 40 years as a software technology professional, she has utilized a unique background in Sales, Marketing, and Technology combined with a thought leadership approach to set strategy and direction within the customers’ technology requirements. She is experienced at establishing Opportunities, Strategy Plans, Pricing methodologies, and Contracts to provide an effective and efficient method of working within customer’s processes. She is known for developing a persistent pursuit plan and building an outstanding team-based execution for IT solutions to meet customer’s IT problems and challenges. She brings this experience to Ritzy Texan.
Debbie proactively pursues strong professional relationships and credibility with key IT and business executives in accounts. Focus on customer challenges and strategies while providing consultative advice and direction for account IT planning. Passionate at getting a seat at the customer’s planning table and viewed as part of their team.
