Lisa grew up in Louisiana but has lived in Texas most of her live. Lisa says, “I wasn’t born in Texas but got here as fast I could”. Lisa is married to her wonderful husband for 24 years and have two amazing growth sons. Fortunately, both are still in Austin. Lisa’s oldest son is expecting the first grandchild this year. Lisa has worked in the Round Rock ISD for 18 years but now works part time which has given her the gift of time. Lisa has always enjoyed the sense of fulfillment from working on art and craft projects. She makes mosaics and bar trays, both unique and one of a kind. She loves the uniqueness of each Mosaic art piece. It totally consumes her while creating the mosaic. Lisa’s obsession with colored glass and the beauty that sunlight brings to it is her passion. She started with stained glass but quickly found it was frustrating and did not bring the joy she wanted from art. The realization finally hit Lisa; randomness of the colored glass was what inspired her. The randomness and the love of old things guided her towards trying the combination of old windows and color glass to create the beautiful mosaics. As she creates each piece, she loves thinking about the home where the window once belonged. She likes to think whose of the family whose home it once belonged would appreciate their windows being used for art and is enjoying a second life! Lisa says, “When I work on a new mosaic, it consume me and fills me with joy. I kept my window creations sitting on all my windowsills so I would wake up each morning and watch the beauty of the sunlight bursting through the colors. “ Lisa’s family and friends encouraged her to share them with others. Setting the windows where the sunlight can greet them creates such a sense of peace. Her hope is that others find as much joy as she had creating the mosaics.
